Why have a sports academy?

"The youth of today are faced with a competitive and challenging sport enviornment"  So how do our students prepare themselves for these challenges?

Rutherford Junior High Sports Academy provides an avenue for specialisation.  Students will develp an understanding and skill base of varying sporting codes, preparing them to compete with the best, to the best of their abilities.

We at Rutherford Junior High want to take our many gifted athletes to the next level of competitiveness.  This means providing the resources and expertise which allow them to achieve and enjoy success.

The Academy programme will meet specific targets set in the Ministry of Education's Health and Physical Education Curriculum document.

The aim of the Academy is to educate and up-skill students in the respective sporting codes.  Thus enabling them to compete to a higher level and achieve greater success in doing so, the school aims to assist each student in allowing them to reach a realise their actual and full potential.
